Xiamen City. 01 December 2020. Vice Consul and Acting Head of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen Elaine Mae V. Laruan-Hernandez attended the 6th “Maritime Silk Road” (Fuzhou) International Tourism Festival and “Fujian Tour” Carnival held on 27-29 November 2020 in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province.
The event was highlighted by the Opening Ceremony attended by China’s Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism Zhang Xu, Standing Member of Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee Lin Baojin, and Vice Governor of Fujian Province Zheng Jianmin. The foreign dignitaries were led by the Lebanese, Croatian, Angolan and Mali ambassadors from Beijing.
A field trip was also organized for the participants to experience the hot spring in Yongtai county, a town 54 kilometers southwest of Fuzhou City. Yongtai town is popular locally for its hot springs, and the Chinese government has included it in its tourism promotion campaign that has brought massive infrastructure development and economic activity in the quiet and agricultural town in the past several years.
