

Consul General Julius Caesar A Flores spearheaded the First Fujian Tourism Investment Mission to Puerto Princesa City and Palawan Province from 20-25 June 2018 as part of the Consulate General’s economic diplomacy thrusts for 2018.
Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron of Puerto Princesa City and Governor Jose Chaves Alvarez welcomed the members of the Mission who were briefed of the tourism industry and business environment as well as feted in separate receptions during the visit.
Pursued within the framework of the “Build Build Build Infrastructure Program” of the Duterte Administration and the Tourism Master Development Plans of PPC and Palawan Province, the members of the Mission were given comprehensive briefings by local authorities on the tourism investment opportunities as well as made ocular visits of selected hotels and sites in Puerto Princesa City, Roxas, San Vicente and El Nido, Palawan.
The Mission comprised selected Xiamen, Fujian and other Southern China firms engaged in the various aspects of the tourism industry who recognized the importance of the Philippines as a fast growing destination for the Chinese market on one hand and on the other, which are keen in expanding their presence in the Philippines.
Sidelights of the Mission included a tour of the Puerto Princesa Underground River System (UNESCO World Heritage Site and New Wonder of the World) and island hopping in El Nido (Small Lagoon and Snake Island.
The Mission’s visit to Palawan was made possible under the auspices of the Puerto Princesa City Tourism Council which worked in tandem with the PPC Tourism Office, Palawan Provincial Tourism Office and the private sector through the Phil Travel Merchants and Events Specialists Company.
