Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores led the officers and Philippine Consulate General’s officers and staff, together with the Filipino community in Fujian in celebrating the 2017 International Women’s Month on 26 March 2017 at the SM Jinjiang Sports Center. 90% of the attendees were women and 10% were men.

In a brief message during the program, Consul General Flores informed the members of the Filipino community the theme for this year’s international women’s month “We Make Change Work for Women” and citing the importance of the event to inform and engage as well as inspire and empower women to become productive members of society as enshrined in the Magna Carta for Filipino Women, R.A. 9710.

Ms. Eve Denise Coronel, a pioneer teacher from the Manila-Xiamen International School (MXIS) delivered an inspirational talk on how to inspire and empower women to be agents of change. She narrated her personal experiences as a mother, teacher as well as an OFW in China for the last 21 years. She emphasized that the empowerment of women requires “3 Ls” – learn, labor and leadership.
