

The Business Matchmaking Workshop of the 5th Nanyang Culture Festival was successfully held on 22 April 2016 at the Seashine International Mall in Xiamen City as part of the 5th Nanyang Culture Festival. This year’s Business Matchmaking Workshop is a new sub-event of the Festival aimed to provide a platform to enhance economic (trade and investments, tourism) cooperation between Xiamen and Southeast Asian countries.
The Opening Program was attended by Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores and his counterparts from the Consulates General of Singapore and Thailand. Xiamen Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (FOCAO) and Xiamen Pilot Free Trade Zone (PFTZ) officials welcomed the workshop participants. The Philippines was represented in the workshop by the Philippine Consulate General, Philippine Tourism Office (PTO) Shanghai, the Philippine Airlines (PAL), The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), and ADEC Innovation (Online Education).
There were more than 300 participants representing 38 companies coming from ASEAN member countries and China including 6 from the Philippines, 2 from Cambodia, 1 from Indonesia, 5 from Malaysia, 3 from Singapore, 4 from Thailand, 11 overseas Chinese companies and 7 others.
Consul Ria Gorospe and Tourism Officer Niel Ballesteros made presentations on the Philippines. Consul Gorospe focused on Philippine trade and investment matters while Mr. Ballesteros promoted Philippine tourism with a short video presentation on “Visit the Philippines Again in 2016.”
