The ASEAN Culture and Art Exchange Center in Jimei District of Xiamen, Fujian Province featured two (2) Filipino artists, Mr. Baldwin Kho and Mr. Lloyd Perillo, during the ASEAN Culture and Art Creation Season II International Contemporary Art Exhibition from 26 December to 10 January 2022.

Held on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, the exhibit featured two hundred (200) original artworks with diverse themes and styles from the Philippines and other ASEAN countries. 

Mr. Kho is a Filipino Chinese teacher in Developmental Arts in Manila, Inc. (CDAM). His works presented during the art exhibition were entitled “Coalesce”, a photomontage of different images including that of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Virgin Mary and Mona Lisa, and “Spring Outing” which would have some similarities with Van Gogh’s paintings.

Mr. Perillo, an outstanding art educator and involved in many painting and calligraphy exhibitions and art activities in the Philippines painted “Gorgeous”, a massive interplay of different colors to whet someone’s appetite of the abstract.

During the Opening Ceremony held on 26 December 2021, the ASEAN Culture and Art Center donated a painting from Chinese artist Wang Yan, a first-class national artist.

The Opening Ceremony was held on 26 December 2021, was attended by PCG Xiamen’s Political and Economic Officer Faith Bautista, Cultural Officer Reigfred P. Albello and Consular Officer Rey Albe Mateo.
